Dr. K. H. Sancheti
Dr. K.H. Sancheti, a pioneer in the field of Orthopaedics, founded the Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation in 1965. Dr. Sancheti or KHS, as he is endearingly referred to, has been a firm believer of affordable orthopaedic prosthesis for the masses.
He is credited for the country’s first of its kind indigenous knee and hip transplant prosthesis – INDUS. For his service to humanity through medicine and his exceptional services in the fields of Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, Medical Education and Research, the Government of India has bestowed on him the country’s highest civilian awards – the Padmashree in 1991, the Padmabhushan in 2003 and the Padmavibhushan in 2012.
He was also conferred the BC Roy Award by the Medical Council of India. Dr. Sancheti has served as the Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon to His Excellency, the Governor of Maharashtra as well as the Indian Armed Forces, along with holding several distinguished positions in medical and academic institutions. Over the years, Dr. Sancheti has trained over 200 ortho-surgeons and has offered his expertise to several hospitals across India, especially in the area of hospital design. Dr. Sancheti continues to inspire and train a number of ortho-surgeons and is the strong foundation on which Sancheti Hospital stands.
Dr. Parag Sancheti
Dr. Parag Sancheti, Chairman and Managing Director of Sancheti Hospital, carries forward the legacy of his father Dr. K. H. Sancheti. Renowned for his holistic approach, Dr. Parag Sancheti specialises in sports medicine and arthroscopy and takes a keen interest in facilitating sports medicine services to athletes from across the country.
He has been associated with the Indian Association of Sports Medicine (IASM) since 1996 and serves as the President of the association. Recently, he was elected President of the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society (APAS), a society for surgeons of joint replacement from the Asia-Pacific region. For his extensive research and academic work in the field of orthopedics, Dr. Parag Sancheti has also been conferred the honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and has been invited to the Dundee University, UK consistently over the years.
Under Dr. Parag’s active leadership, Sancheti Hospital enjoys tremendous trust amongst patients, not just from India, but from overseas as well. Dr. Parag Sancheti is also credited for initiating and revolutionising the concept of Medical Tourism, which makes superior orthopaedic services available to patients who travel to India from abroad, for health related issues.
Manisha Sanghavi, the oldest of Dr. K. H. Sancheti’s children, serves as the Executive Director of Sancheti Healthcare Academy. Prior to this, Ms. Sanghavi served as Director Administration and was involved in overseeing the management of the hospital at Sancheti Hospital, for almost 17 years. Having pursued a MBA degree, Manisha Sanghavi has previously also worked in the capacity of Marketing Manager at the Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA).
A true leader to her team, Ms. Sanghavi has also been responsible for initiating and championing activities amongst employees at Sancheti Hospital to facilitate the concept of healthy competition. Committed to creating a culture of patient safety, efficiency and accountability towards patient care, Sancheti Hospital has also been awarded the prestigious NABH accreditation, under her able leadership.
