History
The Sancheti Institute College of Physiotherapy was started in the year 1995.
It began as a Diploma in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (DPT &R). In a span of two years, the institution was recognized by and affiliated to the prestigious university of Pune, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences & Indian Association of Physiotherapists. The Diploma was hence converted into a comprehensive full time Bachelor's Degree of Four years and six months which is inclusive of 6 months internship training. Now the college is running Four years and six months degree course under Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. The College is also conducting two years Master of Physiotherapy course under Maharasthra University of Health Sciences.
About the College
Sancheti Institute College of Physiotherapy (SICOP) is one of the leading Physiotherapy colleges in Maharashtra & India. It has an intake capacity of 50 students per year and has an adequate infrastructure. It has well furnished A.C. class rooms with its own laboratories to match the teaching standards for both U.G. & P.G. courses. It has an attachment with the 150 beded SIOR hospital & Physiotherapy department.
The student's also gain academic and clinical experience in the leading multi specialty hospitals and health care centers of the city. They include:
Aundh Chest Hospital
Jehangir Hospital and Medical Center,
Sasoon General Hospital.
Kamla Nehru Hospital.
Inlaks and Budhrani Hospital
The students are trained in various specialties that include Intensive Care, Cardio Vascular Thoracic, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Gynecology & Community Based Rehabilitation, Manual therapy.
The facilities available are
Anatomy & physiology labs. For 1st year practicals
Exercise Electro therapy labs. For all 4-1/2 of U.G. & P.G.
EMG - NCV lab for diagnosing muscle & nerve disorders.
PFT lab for diagnosis & Prognosis of chest conditions.
Computer lab & Internet access for research purposes
Well equipped & well furnished library with over 1200 books and International Journals
Hostel and mess facilities for students
