The year was 1972 and orthopaedics as a specialty was relatively unknown, when visionary Dr. K.H.Sancheti established a modest 10 bedded orthopaedic clinic in Pune, Maharashtra. Ably aided by his wife, Mrs. Anuradha Sancheti, that clinic revolutionized orthopaedic care, and went on to become one of the largest private specialist facilities in South East Asia.

Sancheti Institute of Orthopaedic Research, or SIOR as it is known today, is the embodiment of therapeutic care, committed to following the highest level of ethical standards in patient care, clinical research, education, and administrative management. The institute offers 14 distinct specialist services covering the spectrum of medical care in orthopaedic as well as non surgical medicine. SIOR is also an educational centre of repute with affiliations to major medical colleges, and establishments worldwide.
Sancheti Institute, the humble beginning with just 10 beds has turned into a 200 bedded, dedicated orthopaedic hospital, with a built up area of more than 1, 50,000 sq. ft. proudly being one of the largest private specialist facilities in South East Asia. SIOR is regarded as the most highly specialized hospital for Joint Replacement, Traumatology, Spinal Surgery, Pediatrics Orthopaedic, Arthroscopy and Sports Injuries, Hand and Plastic Surgery.
Our focus on innovation has led to the development of unique products such as the Indus Knee Joint, India's first completely indigenous knee implant that has helped arthritic patients, across the country to achieve pain free mobility.
Sancheti Institute has been the official referral hospital in many major national sporting events and Dr. Parag was appointed Conveyor of the Medical Committee for the Commonwealth Youth Games 2008- responsible for rendering all required medical services to athletes, coaches, support staff and spectators.
Sancheti Institute will also be present at the Commonwealth Games 2010 to be held in New Delhi.
