The Physiotherapy Departments boasts of skilled staff of 14 qualified, devoted and experienced Physiotherapists who look after the rehabilitation needs around 200 patients per day.
Role of Physiotherapy Department in an Orthopaedic hospital is enormous. In fact a major part of the treatment consists of Physiotherapy, which strives to get the patient back to function. This is done by alleviating pain, reducing the disability improving strength, and general fitness. The spectrum of patients who come under the care of the physiotherapist is vast, from mild aches and pains to post-surgical rehabilitation eg. Following joint replacement, spinal surgeries and surgical reduction of fractures.
This is the reason Dr. K.H. Sancheti has developed physiotherapy department so extensively and raised it's standards such that it is one of the best centers of its kind in the region.
In fact realizing the growing need of rehabilitation. Dr. Sancheti had a foresight of starting The Sancheti Institute College of Physiotherapy 12 years back. This college is now responsible for producing hard working and dedicated Physiotherapist's who are trained in various aspects of rehabilitation.
The services offered by the physiotherapy team are as follows :
1 Total rehabilitation of the patient recovering from injuries sustained due to road accidents and following fractures.
2 Rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injuries and paraplegics.
3 Rehabilitation of children suffering from cerebral palsy, polio and other pediatric conditions
4 Electrotherapy (consisting of various heat & electrical modalities) and Exercise therapy (consisting of various exercises, mobilizations and exercise equipments) which are used to reduce pain, improve range and reduce stiffness and heal sprains & strains.
5 Shoulder rehabilitation for patient with pain & disorders around the shoulder and post surgical management.
6 Knee club which serves as both preventive and curative for all those at risk of developing or who have already developed knee problems.
7 Spine club which is based on the same model as the Knee club- for people at risk of backaches or patients already suffering due to the same.
8 The Physiotherapy Department is also an integral part of the various free Arthritis & Orthopaedic camps organized in the institute itself or in & around Pune & the neighbouring districts.
9 Increased level of stress and the general neglect of health has raised a growing concern for improving fitness in various industrial set up's. The Physiotherapist have a very important role in prevention and treatment of occupational hazards.
