The Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, established in 1972, is a premier institute in India offering orthopaedic courses leading to MS Ortho and D. Ortho degrees. The institute is affiliated to B.J. Medical College and has been recognized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, Medical Council of India, New Delhi and University of Pune. It features extensive training facilities in orthopaedics, traumatology, joint replacement surgery, spinal surgery, arthroscopy surgery, hand surgery and management of polytrauma.
College of Physiotherapy
The four year course in 'Bachelor of Physiotherapy' is recognized by the (MUHS) Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. The two year 'Master of Physiotherapy' course is recognized by the University of Pune, MUHS. The college comprises facilities like a state-of-the-art laboratory, library, physical education,
hostel facilities, computer lab, and cafeteria.
Hospital Management Course
The Institute conducts a comprehensive one year 'Post-Graduate Diploma in Hospital Management' course which is affiliated to the University of Pune. In addition, many other programmes are also conducted here.
It also has the proud distinction of conducting many Hospital Management Programmes on behalf of the
World Bank sponsored Maharashtra Health System Development Project (MHSDP) for senior medical professionals of the Government of Maharashtra.
Fellowship in Arthroplasty, Arthroscopy, Spine and Trauma
It is Sancheti Institute's aim to assist growth, research and development in the field of orthopaedics. To further this, the institute offers fellowships in Arthroscopy, Arthroplasty, Spine and Trauma to promising and deserving individuals. Fellows are often provided with autonomy while working in the fracture clinic during this one month fellowship.
Fellow trainees are permitted to assist primary surgeons, depending upon the complexity of the case and the presence or absence of resident trainees. After successful completion of the fellowship, candidates become eligible for an (AASI) Alumni Association of Sancheti Institute Membership.
The alumni association has more than 350 members. The AASI bulletin is published every quarter and interactive group meetings are conducted to discuss complex cases between orthopaedic surgeons.
AO Centre
The AO Foundation is a medically guided non-profit organization led by an international group of surgeons specialized in the treatment of trauma and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. AO specializes in general trauma, spine, cranio-maxillofacial, and veterinary surgery.
Always medically driven, AO is active in research and development to create scientifically sound concepts and methods, as well as in clinical investigation to support evidence based decision making. Sancheti Institute has been recognised as an official AO training centre; as such the institute now offers AO fellowships to doctors from India, Asia & Europe.
