Renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon and Chairman of the Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation, Dr K H Sancheti received the ` Medical Scientist of Excellence Award' on January 6, 2007. The Award was presented by Rotary Club of Mumbai South at the hands of Smt Rajshree Birla.

The Award is for his Exemplary Services in the field of Orthopaedics and Research which has today evolved India's first joint Replacement implant - Indus.

During the occasion Smt Rajashri Birla stressed on the importance of bridging the public and private health care system in India. This would effect in extracting maximum benefits in terms of quality care for the economically weaker sections of the society. She applauded Dr K H Sancheti's efforts in this direction where in today he has evolved the first Indian Joint Replacement Implant after years of hard work and research. This is all in the direction of making joint replacement surgeries affordable to common man.

Dr K H Sancheti in his speech said that he has worked with utter sincerity and dedication towards his profession. He stressed upon the importance of continuous improvement in one self and that one should not be shy of taking advice from the right person at the right time. Whatever that he have achieved is through sheered hard work and dedication. In a lighter vein he said that it is a fortunate coincidence that his birthday 24/7 (July 24) actually corresponds to his working hours. He said it is a sacrifice of many and in particular his wife Mrs A K Sancheti that he could continue his medical and research work.

Dr Parag Sancheti made a presentation to the audience on future plans of Sancheti Hospital.

Mr Pradip Goyal was the master of ceremony. Rotary Club of Mumbai South President Mr Subhash Kela welcomed the guest. Dr Siddharth Joglekar, Dr Pralhad Patki spoke on the occasion and narrated their incidences as students of Dr Sancheti. Mr M B Agarwal, Mr Mahindra Parekh and Mr Rajendra Agarwal also spoke on the occasion.
