WOMEN – ARE YOU FIT???
You do all the things you can do to look and feel great. Specially you take care of your skin and keep it clean to look good. You condition your hair. You eat right. But you are missing out an important part of a healthier lifestyle- EXERCISE. According to studies, scientists have proved that women who exercise regularly have significant improvement in not only their physical health by strengthening the muscles, keeping the bones strong, improving the skin but also in their mental wellness. So no matter what your age or shape is, you should exercise daily. Women play different roles in their life which have a significant impact on participation of exercise. Young women between 22-30 years of age when they usually get married find it very difficult to fit exercise program in their schedule because of the new family responsibilities. Women between 30-45 years which is a period of motherhood, tend to spend less time for themselves for maintaining their health because of their children, husband and family responsibilities and decreasing feeling of self priority.
Women and men have many similar health problems but they can affect women differently. Women are affected with most of their health problems in their post menopausal period. Menopause is the period in which a woman stops getting her monthly periods. It is a wrong notion that the incidence of heart diseases are more in men. But studies have proved that women are equally affected with heart problems in their post menopausal period.
Almost all the health problems of females are linked to a hormone called estrogen. It maintains bone density, muscle strength, decreases the overall risk of heart diseases by increasing high density lipoproteins, decreasing low density lipoproteins and improves serotonin formation, an anti depressant which decreases depression, irritability and anxiety. After menopause, the level of estrogen declines. So, there is an increased risk of developing osteoporosis, heart diseases ,breast cancer, mood swings, depression and overall decrease in physical fitness because of decrease in bone and muscular strength and endurance. So, to avoid and delay this complications and for better health, regular exercises are necessary.According to many studies, regular exercises help to improve and maintain physical fitness of women. The components of physical fitness are bone and muscle strength, cardiopulmonary endurance, flexibility and balance.
